To Try: Rimmel Lips

Hi Beauties

As most of you know when it comes to makeup I’m an eye shadow, liner. Mascara junkie, so for this post I thought I’d mix things up by telling you a bit about my favourite lip products from Rimmel, I buy quite a few lipsticks, balms and glosses which rarely get used, the products in this post are things that I’ve been wanting to try for quite some time,

Here goes…

The first two things are from the Apocolips range, I have two of the Apocalips Lip Lacquers already and I really like them, their so pigmented and not sticky I HATE sticky gloss. ‘Atomic Rose’ and ‘Meteoric Matte’ are from the Rimmel’s Apocalips Velvet range. ‘Atomic Rose’ is a dusky shade which has a very vintage feel to it and would match my skin tone perfectly. ‘Meteoric Matte’ is a very deep red shade that still manages to be a true red, I have a feeling that once this has been applied it might make me look a little washed out, but if I paired it with a nude eye look I could get away with it. A huge thank you to Beauty dream machine for the lovely swatches.

The next lip product is one of Rimmel’s ‘Lasting Finish Colour Rush Balms’, my favourite is in the shade ‘Make Me Blush’, like ‘Atomic Rose’ it’s another deeper pink shade (I must have a thing for them’. Rimmel’s ‘Colour Rush Balms’ are more like a pencil than the traditional stick applicator, which I find much easier to apply, I can get a precise shape and even colour.

Then there’s the lipsticks, Rimmel’s ‘Moisture Renew Lipstick’ to be precise, again I own quite a few of these but they never get worn, I own various deep reds thinking I’ll be brave and wear them out but when push comes to shove I chicken out and in the draw my unused lipsticks remain.

‘Ringa Ringa Roses’ is another pink shade but it is slightly more blue toned than ‘Make Me Blush’ and ‘Atomic Pink’ this means it will be more vibrant on the lips, in my opinion this shade would be perfect for transitioning from winter to spring.

The next lipstick I wish I was brave enough to try is ‘As You Want Victoria’ to me this colour is a very classic one, this lipstick brings to mind the black and white 1950’s murder mystery. In 2015 this colour is still one that for most of us is very wearable and would be the perfect way to add a touch of vintage class to any outfit.

And finally Rimmel’s ‘Sloanes Plum’ is another favourite of mine which I don’t quite have the confidence to wear yet. ‘Sloanes Plum’ is a very deep purple based red, which to me adds a very gothic- Victorian edge to an outfit, I think it’s my favourite out of them all and I’m determined to wear it out one of these days.

Thanks for reading Beauties and please tell me what you think about my shift from nails, does it work or not?.

MUA: Things I’d Love To Try

Hi Beauties

I know I’ve been away for a while but my life has been kind of hectic recently, money and job worries mainly.

So in order to tackle these issues I decided to go to a local shopping centre with a PILE of CVs, whilst I was looking for work their were a few products from the MUA range that caught my eye.

The first item was the ‘Romantic Efflorescence Palette’, I was particularly drawn to the stunning shades of purple this palette holds, one is deeper toned than the other which will be perfect for a sultry night look, or a could wear both for an ombré eye look. The palette also sports some very wearable neutral toned shades, which I like to wear on those no-makeup- makeup days.

The second product is another eye shadow palette, this time it’s the ‘MUA Luxe Palette’ in ‘Mysterial. As you may or may not know I love rocking dark, vampy eye looks even in the daytime. I love the fact that this palette is metallic as it gives you a more dress up kind of look. I was also drawn to this palette because I think the contrast between the deep metallic black and the creamy pink shade would work beautifully on the eye.

Each time I go to the MUA web store I spend time drooling over this nail polish, ‘Honey Shine’ is a stunning shade, it’s a gold metallic with just a hint of a rose gold undertone. It’s a beautiful online exclusive and ‘Honey Shine’ will soon complete my MUA polish collection.

I love lip products and whilst I was browsing yesterday I managed to find the ‘Lip Switch Duos’, I tested all of them (at least I think I did), but only really liked three of them.

‘Crimson Ruby’ is more of a true red it’s the only one I found with the lipstick and a clear gloss as opposed to a coloured one. ‘Crimson Ruby’ did make me look a little washed out but I’ll find a way to make it work.
The next ‘Lip Switch Duo’ is ‘Coral Pink’ and it suits my skin tone beautifully, it’s not too bright and is just a few shades darker than my natural lip colour so it isn’t too ‘in your face’.
The third Is called ”Persian Plum’ I think it would work well with any skin tone, unlike ‘Crimson Ruby’ this one is more of a blue based red, which works beautifully with my skin tone and hair colour and doesn’t make me look washed out, if you wear this shade you’ll defiantly get noticed.

Favourite Berry Lipsticks

Hi Beauties

Since winter is here I thought I’d do something a little different in my blog, since I’m loving deep red lips I thought I’d bring you my favourite drugstore berry red lipsticks.

The first is Milani’s ‘Black Cherry’ in the bullet it’s a stunning purple- y red shade, but on the lips it appears more as a black red it doesn’t seem to have that rich purple undertone. Never the less it is still a beautiful colour and a defiant fall fave.

The arcing berry shade to feature in this post is Maybelline’s ‘Blissful Nerry’ which is more of a pinky mauve shade as opposed to a deep berry shade. In the bullet it looks very red, but on the lips it’s a very rich mauve berrypink colour. I think this lipstick would be fantastic If you want to do a berry lip but you aren’t a fan of very deep dark shades, ‘Blissful Berry’ might be your go to fall shade.

The third is Milani’s ‘Uptown Mauve’ it’s another deep pink based berry shade, this one is a little more true to colour than ‘Black Cherry’ in the bullet it is a very rich blue based pink and on the lips it is pretty much the same, perhaps a shade or two lighter.

IMG_3133.JPG

Milani’s ‘Sangria’ in the billet this lipstick appears to be a true berry shade, it has the perfect balance of red and purple and would make the perfect fall lip. However the colour pay off is quite disappointing as on the lips it is a least two to three shades lighter than the bullet suggests it should be. ‘Sangria’ is still a very pretty colour and lovely for if your want a more toned down berry lip.

‘Metallic Seduction’ from Rimmel is a berry red with a very pretty copper undertone, with this one I’d say the colour in the bullet in almost identical to the colour when it is worn, making a very beautifully unique fall lipcolour.

IMG_3127.JPG

NYC’s ‘Garnet’ is a very bright tomato red shade, which looks as bright and beautiful on the lips as it does in the bullet, although this one isn’t really a true berry shade it still makes for a stunning autumn lip colour.

IMG_3138.JPG

‘508a’ (I wish it had a proper name) from Wet and Wild is a mother purple based berry shade, in the bullet it appears very deep, almost a wine colour however on the lips this lipstick an almost true red, but it is significantly lighter than how it appears in the bullet. To be honest I’m not a huge fan of this colour it’s too red to be classed as a berry shade.

Now I’ve saved the best for last Revlon’s ‘Wine Not’ doesn’t only have an adorable name it’s also a stunning very deep berry colour, this lipstick is by far my favourite one from this post. It’s definitely the deepest and richest berry tone I’ve come across and is a go to autumn lip colour for me, love it.
